Parched

Value The Simple Things In Life
A desert. Dry, lifeless, and boring. However, this is not the case for children Musa and Sarel. Sarel knows what to eat and where to find it. Musa can find water underground, safe from the searing heat, but the question remains; will they battle the elements and survive?||
Parched is a beautiful story that shows nature’s power. The characters are quite believable and easy to root for. The narration of the story, done by alternating through the various points-of-view of the characters kept the reader interested. The constant need for water and the threat of capture by the Tandie gang added a sense of urgency to the situation. The characters’ rudimentary lifestyle emphasized how one could enjoy simple pleasures without modern conveniences. I gave this book five stars for a touching story that made me wish for a sequel.
